Howdy, I’m Lacey of Lacey and Alex fame (not really I have like 3 followers on twitter.) Chances are you’re a friend that I’ve sent this link to or you randomly stumbled upon it.  Either way, Welcome and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving this a read.

Alex and I have been hosting parties and entertaining our friends since 2005. Our parties have grown and changed over the years but a few things have always remained the same. First, we know the MOST important ingredient to any party is the guests.  I don’t care how elaborate your decorations are or if you have chef prepared micro appetizers, if you don’t have guests you don’t have a party!  With that, ensuring that our guests feel welcome, relaxed and have a good time is the entire goal.  We like to think of it as radical hospitality. For us, this means please come in and know you are welcome. Second, we do like to party, but we’re also homebodies.  So, we do almost all of our entertaining at home.  With the rare exception the only venue changes you’ll see here is using the dining room instead of the kitchen (and we have moved a couple of times.) This does mean we have to get pretty creative when the same place changes from being a high school auditorium to a Studio 54 inspired discoteque. Lastly, we don’t hire a caterer.  So, almost all of the food we serve is homemade (or bought at the grocery store).  Apparently, we are gluttons for punishment and somehow love the rush of desperately getting food out before at least 10 of our guests have arrived!

In reality, this blog is mostly a vanity project to serve as a more complete record of the parties we’ve thrown than the hand scribbled notes that fill volumes of composition books.  But, if you did stumble here I hope you find some helpful hints or ideas.  And maybe get a minor or chuckle or two.

XOXO,

Lacey
